Best known for the rich and soaring melodies of his verismo operas, Giacomo Puccini composed the ambitious Messa di Gloria as his graduation exercise in 1880. It is a sacred work, but filled with emotional impact, exuberance and dramatic contrasts that feel operatic in scope. Featuring soloists Joseph Doody and Themba Mvula, the Choral Scholars of St Martin-in-the-Fields join forces with St Martin’s Voices and Chamber Orchestra, directed by Olivia Tait.
